Scott M. Karson, president of the New York State Bar Association, issued the following statement in response to President Joseph Biden’s executive order lifting restrictions on transgender military service members:

“Today we celebrate a decision that brings us another step closer to a stronger and more inclusive armed forces. The New York State Bar Association embraces diversity in all its forms and advocates for the notion that tolerance and acceptance should unite us, not drive us apart. As we expand our new LGBTQ Law Section, I join with hundreds of section members and the entire Bar Association to say once and for all that discrimination has no place in our military services.”
