Lisa Ornest

Lisa Ornest

Award Winner— Real Property Law Section Community Contributor

Ms. Ornest was admitted to practice in 2005. However, she began her real estate law career when she was still in law school. In her second year Ms. Ornest was lucky enough to be hired by Nancy Haber at the AG’s office, and worked in the Real Estate Finance Bureau until graduation, with Marissa Piesman, and of course, Susan Scharbach, among many others, who were always helpful, encouraging, and supportive. She learned about the specific requirements of offering plans, but she also learned about the Martin Act, and the New York protections for investors in real estate as well as in theatrical syndicates.

After graduating Ms. Ornet worked in L&T, going to court every day, and pretty soon she was also appearing in Supreme and even the Federal courts, as she expanding her skills into commercial litigation. After a few years she partially returned to the coop and condo business, drafting offering plans for affordable housing developers at Goldstein Hall, while maintaining my own corporate transactional and commercial litigation practice.

Ms. Ornest began her own practice in 2008. As a solo, at the request of clients, she’s gotten involved in many other areas of law, including but not limited to Federal copyright infringement and Surrogate’s proceedings. Currently, she mainly handles commercial and real estate litigation, corporate transactions, and residential closings.
