New York State Bar Association Calls for Rational Discourse in the Spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
1.17.2022
T. Andrew Brown, president of the New York State Bar Association, issued the following statement today:
“The Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., set the example for civility and rational discourse. He taught us that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. He inspired us to be champions of diversity and ensure a more fair, equitable and inclusive world. As we honor him today in our deeply-divided nation, I hope that my fellow countrymen will allow his words to resonate with them as we try to create a more perfect union. I call upon all Americans today to think, reflect and act in the spirit of Dr. King. As an African-American attorney, I know full well that many of my successes and achievements in life are directly attributable to Dr. King and others like him who took on the challenge and risked their lives for equal opportunity and justice for all.
