NYSBA Signs MOU with International Association of Young Lawyers

Representatives of The New York State Bar Association signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Association of Young Lawyers today at the New York Hilton Midtown in Manhattan. The agreement will bring together young lawyers from more than 90 countries and the largest voluntary state bar association in the United States.

The agreement will strengthen bonds and create networks between young lawyers across the globe and promote the importance of the rule of law. The organizations will share publications and host joint events.

The global association of young lawyers has 4,000 members including more than sixty collective members and Bar Associations. Members of the global association will receive complimentary membership to NYSBA and its International Section.

“Strengthening our relationships with young lawyers across the globe is key to moving NYSBA’s priorities into the future,” said President T. Andrew Brown. “Emphasizing the importance of the rule of law across the globe, especially during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, is critical to building a stable global community. I look forward to the fruits this partnership will bear.”

Anna Wyrzykowska of Poland, president of the international association, was in the United States for the ceremony along with Viktoria Keri, association manager (Hungary/Belgium). Brown, NYSBA International Section Chair Edward Lenci, Azish Filabi, NYSBA International Section chair-elect, and International Section Senior Vice-Chair for Chapters Carlos Ramos-Mrosovsky attended the ceremony.

The signing kicked off a weekend that features NYSBA’s Diversity Symposium, Diversity Awards and House of Delegates meeting.
