New York State Bar Association Calls Ghost Gun Regulation Excellent First Step
4.11.2022
T. Andrew Brown, president of the New York State Bar Association, issued the following statement today about the federal government’s new regulations of ghost guns:
“President Biden’s action today is an excellent first step in controlling the senseless gun violence that is running rampant in this country. Ghost guns and other undetectable firearm components operate within dangerous loopholes that have tragic consequences. Though ghost guns make up a relatively small share of firearms, police have found these weapons with increasing regularity at the scene of crimes.”
The New York State Bar Association Task Force on Mass Shootings and Assault Weapons recommended the regulation of ghost guns in November of 2020, and the association has since lobbied members of the New York Congressional delegation on the issue.
