Mock Trial Celebrates 40 Years of Legal Education & Competition

4.25.2022

1982 was a landmark year for new technologies like the Commodore 64 personal computer and the portable CD player. It was also the first year high school students from around New York competed in the New York State Bar Association’s state wide Mock Trial Tournament.

In 2022, Mock Trial is celebrating 40 years of giving high school students first hand knowledge of law and courtroom procedures. Students learn ethics, civility, public speaking and professionalism. Nearly 100 teams and thousands of students participate each year in 8 regions across the state.

The New York State High School Mock Trial Program is a joint venture of The New York Bar Foundation, the New York State Bar Association, and the Law, Youth and Citizenship Program.

Check back here each week for new videos from our coaches, attorney mentors, judges and students. We will also be posting videos with each of the regional winning teams as they prepare for the semi-finals in May.

Check out 40 Years of Mock Trial page:  https://staging.nysba.cliquedomains.com/nys-mock-trial/#40_years

We also have all four videos posted here https://staging.nysba.cliquedomains.com/nys-mock-trial/
