New York State Bar Association Webinar To Explore Aftermath of Dobbs Decision
7.12.2022
What is New York State doing to protect the reproductive healthcare rights of New Yorkers and patients from other states? Do our laws protect healthcare providers? What resources are available?
These are among the questions to be explored on the New York State Bar Association webinar, “What To Do After Dobbs: Access To Reproductive Healthcare And How To Help.” The program, sponsored by the Women in Law Section, will be held on Thursday, July 14, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Office of the New York State Attorney General, in partnership with 24 national law firms and eight nonprofits, launched a Pro Bono Task Force and hotline providing New Yorkers and people visiting New York with legal information and resources about accessing abortion.
Leaders of the Pro Bono Task Force will speak about the new laws and legal developments, the opportunities to get involved and efforts to protect and improve access to reproductive healthcare.
The speakers are Claudia L. Hammerman (Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison); moderator Christina H. Singh-Bedell (New York State Office Of The Attorney General) and Jennifer Levy (New York State Office Of The Attorney General).
Earlier in June, New York State passed laws protecting the rights of patients and empowering reproductive healthcare providers. On July 1, New York took its first step toward adding an Equal Rights Amendment to the state’s Constitution that would extend protections to reproductive healthcare and autonomy.
