NYSBA President Says Justice Acosta Inspired Attorneys To Reach for the Highest Echelons of the Profession

Sherry Levin Wallach, president of the New York State Bar Association, issued the following statement about the retirement of Presiding Justice Rolando Acosta, Appellate Division, First Department:
“Justice Rolando Acosta is a well-respected jurist who gave back to the legal profession in so many ways. He always took the time to mentor young attorneys, share his wisdom at bar association events and help a colleague in need. As the first immigrant to serve as the presiding justice, he inspired attorneys of all backgrounds to reach for the highest echelons of the New York State court system and the profession. As president of the New York State Bar Association, I was so glad I could be there to honor him as he accepted a prestigious award from the association’s Commercial & Federal Litigation Section.”
