The Committee on Lawyer Referral Service shall assess and evaluate methods of making legal services more readily available to the public; shall encourage and assist local bar associations and other agencies to accomplish this goal; shall monitor developments in the area of lawyer referral; shall oversee operation of the New York State Bar Association’s (NYSBA) Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS), including review of attorney applications for LRIS subject matter panels and making decisions regarding suspension and/or removal of LRIS panel attorneys; shall cooperate with the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Lawyer Referral and Information Service; and shall report on its activities to the NYSBA Executive Committee and House of Delegates as appropriate.
