January 25, 2018: Mineola Attorney Honored by NYS Bar Association for Outstanding Service to the Legal Profession

Jonathan A. Dachs of Shayne, Dachs, Sauer & Dachs was presented with the John E. Leach Memorial Award during the New York State Bar Association’s Annual Meeting January 24.
The award recognizes outstanding service and distinguished contributions to the legal profession as a member of the Bar Association’s Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law (TICL) Section.
“Jonathan is an inspiration to all for his dedication to the practice and for educating others through his prolific writing,” said Elizabeth A. Fitzpatrick, general counsel at Island Companies (Calverton), who serves as chair of the TICL Section. “He is a great supporter of NYSBA and the TICL section and has generously given his time to lecture and share his expertise at many NYSBA programs through the years. We are delighted to present him with this well-deserved recognition.”
Dachs has been an attorney at Shayne, Dachs since 1987 specializing in insurance law and appellate practice, among other areas. The first three years of his legal career were spent at the New York City firm of Chadbourne & Parke.
Dachs is co-author of a regular column in the New York Law Journal on insurance and no-fault law and the author of a chapter entitled “Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Protection,” that appears in New York Insurance Law.
A frequent lecturer, Dachs has spoken on an array of topics before state, local and national bar associations about uninsured and underinsured motorists insurance, dram shop liability, legal writing, civil practice, and appellate practice. He has also taught seminars about uninsured and underinsured motorist insurance to Supreme Court and Civil Court judges from around the state.
