January 26, 2018: Longtime Litigator William Dreyer Receives State Bar’s Attorney Professionalism Award

William J. Dreyer of Albany, founding partner of Dreyer Boyajian, has been honored with the 2018 Attorney Professionalism Award by the Committee on Attorney Professionalism of the State Bar Association.
Dreyer received his award on January 25 during the Association’s House of Delegates dinner in New York City. The award recognizes members who display the highest standards of professionalism, commitment to promoting respect for the legal system, outstanding ethical conduct, competence, good judgment, integrity and civility.
“William Dreyer received a broad range of support from colleagues, clients, jurists and adversaries. It truly seems that he is a lawyer that makes other lawyers better by virtue of knowing him,” said Andrew L. Oringer of New York City (Dechert) who serves as chair of the Committee on Attorney Professionalism. “We are proud to have him as this year’s winner.”
Dreyer, a civil and criminal litigator, has been practicing law for more than 40 years and has been in private practice since 1980. Prior to that he served as a JAG Corps captain in the United States Army and in 1974 became an assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of New York and spent time as chief assistant from 1976 to 1980.
Dreyer is a frequent lecturer at seminars and CLE programs about federal and state civil and criminal practice, and ethics and civility, for the New York State Bar Association and other organizations. He is a past member of the Association’s Commercial and Federal Litigation Section’s Executive Committee. He is a past president of the Northern District of New York Federal Bar Association.
