Scott M. Karson, president of the New York State Bar Association, made the following statement on Hispanic Heritage Month:

“Hispanic lawyers and judges bring a rich heritage and history to New York State and the nation. They are an integral part of our legal system and have reached the  highest echelons of our state and federal court system — from the state Appellate Division to the New York Court of Appeals, from the U.S. District Court to the U.S. Supreme Court. In New York State, we are proud to be home to the fourth largest Latinx population in the country. The Hispanic community, constituting so many diverse countries of origin, is at the heart of what it means to be an American. As we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, I want to lend my voice to those who are pausing to recognize the achievements of this nation’s more than 60 million Hispanic residents.”
