New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) President Hank Greenberg received a coveted Responsible 100 Legal Award from City & State New York at a reception in New York City on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

The annual Responsible 100 awards ceremony honors an elite group of 100 New Yorkers across 10 sectors who are setting new standards of excellence, dedication and leadership in improving their communities and making transformative change. Each year, the event acknowledges the outstanding achievements of socially responsible executives, visionaries and influencers.

“The privilege of serving as president of the New York State Bar Association is the proudest achievement of my professional life,” said Greenberg. “Public service is the highest and noblest calling, and the presidency of NYSBA presents a unique opportunity to do the public good.

“I am both thankful and honored by this award, which would not have been possible without the support of our 72,000 members.”

Greenberg is a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig and concentrates his practice on civil litigation, criminal and civil investigations, and regulatory and administrative law. Previously, he was counsel to then-New York State Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo. Greenberg has also served as general counsel for the New York State Department of Health, and has been a federal prosecutor.

Among other government posts, he also served as a law clerk to then-Associate Judge (later Chief Judge) Judith S. Kaye of the New York Court of Appeals. He is a co-editor of the book “Judith S. Kaye in Her Own Words: Reflections on Life and the Law, with Selected Judicial Opinions and Articles.”
