This program will cover several aspects of equine law, including horse rescue, boarding, contracts, liability, the sport of horse racing, and equine therapy. Each area will examine the current law for directives, benefits, risks, and flaws.

Equine Law Overview
Ms. Farrell will discuss “a day in the life” of an equine law practitioner. She will give an overview sketch of the kinds of issues encountered in her day-to-day work. She will touch on various areas and statutes, including lien laws, agricultural assessments, safety and agricultural tourism, boarding arrangements, and releases.

Equine Therapy
Ms. Farrell will explore the not-for-profit and 501(c)(3) issues affecting organizations. She will also cover hippo-therapy instruction related to licensing and certification, and public and private reimbursement.
Ms. Mancuso will provide the hands-on perspective of running a horse-related not-for-profit, including the necessary grant writing and bureaucratic requirements of rescue operations. She will also share details about her particular work in the area of emergency disaster response and animal welfare.
