Let’s Talk About Race: The Origins of Systemic Racism in the United States
This program discusses breaks down the origins of white supremacy in the United States (the Constitution); discusses the establishment of Black Codes after the Emancipation of enslaved persons (which has led to disproportionate incarceration and broken windows policing in communities of color), and delves into segregation and redlining (which were effectuated through local and federal laws). It then pivots to legal (legislative and judicial) attempts at interrupting racial bias against BIPoC on the State and Federal levels and ends with practical guidance on how to be actively anti-racist in our daily lives.
