Planning With Your Client’s Retirement And Life Insurance
Annuity benefits and employer and individual retirement plan benefits constitute a large portion of the wealth of many individuals. Retirement benefits also constitute a large portion of inherited wealth. With knowledge of these issues, attorneys and advisors may best assist clients in managing their assets, particularly retirement, annuity, and life insurance benefits.
This program will present the issues that may arise with respect to the treatment of retirement, annuity and life insurance benefits for purposes of taxes, transfers on death, domestic relations, Medicaid eligibility, and creditor’s rights. Attendees will learn about how unmarried couples may, and may not obtain treatment similar to that of married couples.
Whether your practice is devoted primarily to estates, elder law, domestic relations, or financial planning or includes only the occasional drafting and reviewing of trusts, estates, and domestic relations documents, or beneficiary designation forms, this program will give you a basic understanding of the issues that are most likely to arise with respect to retirement, annuity, and life insurance benefits.
